  1. I would like to know more about you. I am unable to locate information on you.

Where were you born? You indicated you attended school in Minnesota, which institution? Which law school did you attend?

Other than the fact you are not a republican, why should I vote for you?

Thank you for your interest in my campaign for the Arizona House in LD1.

The three Democrats running for legislative seats in LD1 participated in the Clean Slate General Debate last week. Our opponents did not show up. You can watch the complete debate here (the actual recorded portion begins at about 36:00 after the advance hold screen):

In answer to your specific questions, I was born in Minneapolis and attended the University of Minnesota. After graduation, I joined the U.S. Navy and was selected to serve with the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. I met my husband in the Navy, and we moved to Idaho Falls and then Albany, New York with his Navy/US Department of Energy job. I attended law school at Albany Law School when my daughter was two years old.

My law practice has focused on representing healthcare providers. My last full-time job was as General Counsel for a statewide Catholic healthcare system in Iowa. I am proud to have received the endorsement of the Arizona Nurses PAC.

As a member of the Arizona House, my priorities would include advancing legislation to:

      • Ensure everyone has access to affordable healthcare.
      • Ensure mental health care is part of our community health system; and
      • Support programs to build affordable workforce housing in our District.

  2. In the September 27th issue of the Daily Courier here in Prescott. You stated one of your priorities is to “Make housing affordable”. Since the editor did not follow up, please let me know how you intend to do this.

    Thank You

Thank you for your interest in my campaign for the Arizona House in Legislative District 1, which includes most of Yavapai County. My campaign website is: https://www.cleanslateazld1.com/

In Yavapai County more than one-third of residents are housing burdened, meaning they are paying more than 30% of their income for housing. It is well documented there are firefighters, teachers and healthcare workers in our District who are unable to afford housing in our communities. These individuals are working full-time, but are unable to afford market rates. The lack of affordable workforce housing is impacting recruitment and leading to staffing shortages in these critical areas. One piece of legislation that I would work on enacting is legislation to let cities and towns regulate short-term rentals. I live in the Village of Oak Creek near Sedona. Because of its natural beauty and abundance of hiking trails and other outdoor activities, Sedona is a popular tourist destination. As a result, since Arizona passed legislation authorizing short-term rentals in 2016, Sedona has lost about 16% of its residential housing to short-term rentals. The residents didn’t leave, the properties went off the market. The housing affordability crisis is a nationwide problem and we know the issue is there are not enough homes being built to meet demand. Letting municipalities regulate short-term rentals in Arizona would cost us nothing and will help fix the issue. Also, billions of dollars will be spent by the Federal and state governments in the next 5-10 years trying to fix the supply side of the equation. It is crucial that your elected officials work to secure Yavapai County’s and Arizona’s fair shares of such funding and use it to benefit our all of our communities and residents, not limited private interests.
